NOCTARI 4 - THE NEW ORDER. Sci-fi fantasy Action with Ninjas, robots, Alien Creatures and Vampires

In this next chapter of Noctari – The New Order, Nino Kuro and her crew: Scarecrow, Tinman, and the Captain, move further into the unknown Mirror World. They are being followed and surveilled, even though Tinman manages to break free after a ninja kung-fu sword fight, disguise himself, and enter the city on his own. Nino has to part ways with Scarecrow and the Captain to mislead their tail. Ending up with her back against the wall, Nino is forced to use her skills with the sword. But with plans of her own, she hijacks a hover-cab, and her journey deeper into the unknown Mirror World begins.

The NOCTARI Series is an epic sci-fi fantasy action series with giant monsters attacking Earth-like planets in a Star Wars-like universe, with kung-fu sword fights, robots, vampires and alien Creatures working together against dark giant Octopus-like monster creatures. Also in NOCTARI 4 – THE NEW ORDER: Nino and her crew soon realize they have already entered the Noctari reality; a world probably led by a mysterious goddess training ninjas and young ones to become fighters in "the old way" and "freeing" people everywhere from their digital shackles: namely cell phones and iPads and AIs. White Ninjas guard the realm with force. Is this a utopia or a prison? Or maybe a little bit of both? Nino concludes that the Goddess just may be the key to saving her own world. But is the Goddess even real? And what happens if they come face-to-face with their own mirror-world doppelgängers?

The Samurai-like Blade commander Nino's journey into the unknown continues as she searches for the Noctari—her archenemy, her nemesis, once defeated by the 56 tribes, but now needed for survival. In a world where ancient magic was willingly traded for reliable technology, the old ways are forgotten. But they are needed now as a new threat emerges: massive shadow beasts, part nightmare, part reality, flooding into our dimension and consuming existence itself.

Only old magic will work on the monsters overtaking their world; only the shadow tribe, the Noctari—outcasts and murderers—have the answers. The very ones Nino once swore to destroy.

And if they refuse?
There will be nothing left to save.

Code 8: All Powers from Parts 1 & 2 Movies (Full List)

There are superpowers galore in the Code 8 movies, and it is time to look at ALL of them!

It is time to look at all of the superpowers shown on screen in both Part 1 and Part 2 of Netflix's Code 8.

In the R-rated Code 8 movies, a small percentage of the population is born with superhuman abilities, with those people being known as powered, power-enabled, or PWP (people with power). Others try to gain superpowers through an illegal drug called Psyche, and those with powers have to be registered with the government to use them legally.

Unfortunately, this leads to countless people living below the poverty line under severe restrictions, struggling to survive and take care of themselves.

Full List of Powers in Code 8 Part 1 and Part 2

Ahead is a full list of the 11 categories of superpowers in Code 8: Part 1 and Code 8: Part 2 and how they work in this franchise's universe.

Telekinesis

Designated with the label "TK," telekinetics in the Code 8 universe are not much different than the traditional take on the power from other franchises, boasting the ability to move objects with the power of the mind. They can also compress the space around objects and crush or destroy them with that force.

The most notable TK in the films is Stephen Amell's Garrett Kelton, who is seen numerous times using his powers, including keeping multiple lightbulbs afloat in the air almost effortlessly. He's also seen in Part 2 stopping and crushing a robotic K9 unit without touching it whatsoever.

Shortly after Part 1 debuted in 2019, Amell spoke with Collider about working with his character's powers on set, remembering how he only asked director Jeff Chan to not "make [him] look stupid" in the final cut:

"The first day of filming the full-length trailer, where you see me use my mind to take a light bulb and give it to Robbie, I didn’t know how my powers worked or what that would look like. I just remember turning to Jeff and going, 'Look man, I have an idea. Let’s assume that, as telekinetic, I’m right-handed, so my right hand will be back and my left hand will be forward, and I’m going to try really hard. You just have to promise me one thing.' He said, 'What’s that?' And I said, 'Don’t make me look stupid.'"

He also touched on Connor Reed (played by his cousin Robbie Amell) being blessed with electric powers in the film, expressing how cool it was to use some of the same techniques to display their powers:

"But it was really cool because Robbie is an electric in the movie, so he created what an electric looks like and how an electric uses their powers. And as a telekinetic, I did the same thing. In the Code 8 world, that was really cool."

Electrokinesis

Individuals with electrokinesis powers in the Code 8 movies are designated simply as Electrics, and they can generate and manipulate electricity throughout their bodies.

When using their powers, Electrics' eyes usually spark with a light blue color, and for high-level abilities, the energy can even be seen running through the veins in their arms and elsewhere on their bodies.

They can resist electric currents from other sources like live wires without protection, and they can also absorb the impact of shocks and attracts from lower-level Electrics, shock someone into cardiac arrest, and jumpstart cars.

The most notable Electric is the aforementioned Connor Reed, a Class 5 power level who is much more advanced power-wise than others in his power category. He can surge an electric fence in Part 1, which is an ability that can only be performed by higher-class Electrics, although he is seen working as an electrician as well.

Slightly different from TK's are Readers, who have their own kind of telepathic abilities in this pair of films.

These telepaths can hear other people's thoughts and read minds, giving them quite the advantage over their enemies, although they are unable to control those whose minds they read.

Readers have to make eye contact with their targets to use their abilities, and as seen with Connor, victims appear visibly uncomfortable when they are being mentally probed.

Greg Bryk's Marcus Sutcliffe is a notable Reader in the original movie, as he's seen using his powers to find out how a person he's meeting is planning to slit his throat.

Cryokinesis

Ice-based powers are seen in this universe through powered beings known as Cryos, who use Cryokinesis to freeze objects into solid matter, mostly liquids. They can also lower the temperature of the air around them, inducing mist and frost.

It's also presumed that they can generate and release ice from their bodies the way Iceman from the X-Men movies can, although this has not been seen yet on screen.

Connor's mother Mary, played by Kari Matchett is a Cryo, and she is seen accidentally freezing food items in front of her boss as she works at a grocery store.

Cryos can freeze objects solid, doing so most easily with liquids. They can lower the temperature of the air around them, causing surfaces to frost over and freeze. Presumably, they can also generate and release ice, using their powers similarly to how Pyros control fire, though this hasn’t been seen yet on screen.

Healing

Healing powers are also prominent in the Code 8 movies, seen in people appropriately known as Healers. They can heal other living humans of bodily damage and diseases, even being able to cure diseases as deadly as cancer.

To do this, all Healers have to do is make physical contact with the person they want to heal, and they transfer the injury or disease from that person into themselves.

Kyla Kane's Nia is the first person in Code 8 shown to be a Healer as she quickly takes care of a slash on Connor's arm, and she also heals Mary's cancer later in the story.

Pyrokinesis

Where there is ice, there is usually fire, as seen by the Pyros in Code 8: Part 1 and Part 2.

These prokinetics can manipulate fire into almost any shape and form imaginable, with some individuals using it to melt an array of different metals and other materials.

Laysla De Oliveira plays a Pyro named Maddy, who is seen early in Code 8: Part 1 melting a chain off a fence with her bare hand.

Super Strength

As is seen in most superhero universes, Code 8 and its sequel have a class of people who boast superhuman strength, those people being known as Brawns.

Brawns can lift and carry objects weighing hundreds or thousands of pounds, and they are also able to easily bend metal and crush solid objects in their hands.

This ability also gives Brawns heightened levels of endurance with their strength keeping them from tiring out too quickly, even after lifting and carrying so much weight.

Vlad Alexis plays a Brawn named Fred, who is seen lifting massive concrete barriers on the street and carrying them around as if they were styrofoam.

Shape-shifting

Code 8: Part 1 and Part 2's human chameleons are known as Shifters, who (expectedly) have shape-shifting abilities.

As simple as it sounds, Shifters can change the physical appearance of their entire bodies, allowing them to mimic the appearance of any particular person they choose to look like.

They make for top-notch spies as they can change into other people and impersonate enemies or bystanders, disappearing into big crowds with everybody around them none the wiser.

During one of the strip club scenes in Part 1, Ess Hödlmoser's Copperhead shows off their abilities by changing their face to a new one during an assassination attempt.

Durable Skin

Powered individuals with incredibly durable (almost impenetrable) skin are known as Exodermas in the two Code 8 movies.

Exodermas have enhanced physical durability along with the aforementioned tough skin, which can withstand much more damage than the average human can take.

These people are different than most powered people in these movies, as their powers are not something that can be turned on or off. Rather, it is an intrinsic ability that comes into play involuntarily, most of the time without warning.

Sutcliffe's bodyguard Rhino (played by Simon Northwood) is a high-level Exoderma, with fans seeing him pick bullets out of his skin with no effort after he gets shot at Sutcliffe's hideout.

Camouflage

While Shifters are something of chameleons of the Code 8 movies, Part 2 also introduces people who are even closer to human chameleons.

These powered people can blend into their environment and camouflage themselves against any background, allowing them to disappear effortlessly.

As shown in Part 2, these people have to touch an object or a surface to take on its appearance before blending in with that environment.

This is seen in Sammy Azero's Tarak, whose skin takes on the exact appearance of any location he goes to in Part 2.

Technokinesis

Also introduced in Code 8: Part 2 is a new ability known as technokinesis - the ability to manipulate and communicate with all different kinds of technology

Described in Part 2 as a rare "one in a million" kind of power, these people (known as Transducers) can control technology and interface with computer data, allowing them to operate machinery with their minds.

To do this requires close proximity with the object they're attempting to control, and physical contact enhances the user's connection with the item they are controlling.

In Part 2, Sirena Gulamgaus's Pavani, Tarak's younger sister, is revealed as a Transducer as she's seen manipulating the LCPD's robotic dogs before broadcasting evidence of the villain's corrupt acts.

Code 8: Part 1 and Code 8: Part 2 are both available to stream on Netflix.

Powers (Code 8)

Powers are superhuman abilities that some people are born with in the world of Code 8 (2019). Those with powers are referred to as powered, power enabled or PWP (people with power), and are registered and identified via a class system required and upheld by the LCPD. They are categorised by class, the higher the class, the more powerful and experienced the powered individuals.

Code 8 is the eponymous police radio code used regularly by the LCPD, meaning “response to unauthorized use of power”.

Description

Approximately 4% of the population is born with abnormal abilities. How powered people came to be is not yet known, or at least not common knowledge. Although powerful and potentially dangerous, powered people suffer in society as a marginalized group, with most living below the poverty line and under severe restrictions.

Powered individuals must be trained on how to utilize their individual powers effectively since those that failed to control their power will invertedly wreck havoc on their surroundings or simply wasting their powers or worse getting themselves into deadly situations, which required skillful usage of their power. It is still unknown how powered individuals learn how to utilize their powers but most of the time, it is seemed to be through self-teaching or trial-and-error experiences. However, in rare cases, it is possible to gain mentorship from more experienced powered individuals.

A class system is used to determined the level of power and experience of the powered individuals. It is known that class 5 powers are the strongest and most experienced ones. The best example is Connor Reed who is a Class 5 Electric that can knock out the power of an entire city block.

Powered people's power will become weakened or unstable if powered individuals age or suffer terminal illness like in the case of Reed's mother, Mary who cannot control her cryokinesis due to her cancer, causing her to involuntarily freeze objects.

History & Society

In the early 1900s, Lincoln City (then America’s fastest growing economy) opened its doors to hundreds of powered individuals to help build the “City of the Future”. Power-enabled people were invited to help with manufacturing and construction since, at the time, the usefulness of those skills outweighed the potential dangers. The origin of their powers was not known, but as long as they were effective workers, it didn't matter. They were fire fighters, police officers, doctors, and more, using their powers to help people. But due to the rise of automation, over time those with power were no longer economically in demand since machines could now do what they could do. Hundreds began to lose work and were laid off, and employers could seemingly refuse to hire powered people once registration was established. The power enabled had difficulty finding even the most humble jobs. In the present day, most powered people are living under the poverty line. Some people have even been known to go as far as giving their children up if they’re born with powers and cannot control them.

Sometime in the 1980s, a comprehensive power registration policy was imposed on Lincoln City by the municipal government, and new technology - Guardians and Drones - were brought in for the LCPD to handle power-enabled threats. Even so, pressure continued to mount for an outright power ban, with protests arising in the city demanding that powered people need to be regulated. Following the deaths of four police officers during Sutcliffe’s attack on the LCPD’s monthly psyke run, proponents push the outright power ban bill through to City Hall to be voted on.

The presence of powered people is suggested to be worldwide - one news banner states that the Pope officially declared powers as deviations from God’s plan. Though it’s not stated when they began appearing, they were part of American society as early as at least the 1920s.

Types

Camouflage

Camouflagers have the ability to visually blend into their environment with a chameleon effect. They were introduced in Code 8: Part II, though they weren’t given an official name.

Cryo (Cryokinetic)

Cryos possess cryokinesis - they can generate and manipulate cold and ice.

They can freeze objects solid, doing so most easily with liquids. They can lower the temperature of the air around them, causing surfaces to frost over and freeze. Presumably, they can also generate and release ice, using their powers similarly to how Pyros control fire, though this hasn’t been seen yet on screen.

Brawn

Brawns possess superior strength, able to carry several times their own body weight.

They can lift and carry hundreds or thousands of pounds, crush solid objects in their hands, and bend metal. Brawns at Big Joe’s construction site are seen casually tossing hollow cinder blocks. The Class 4 Brawn drug dealer at the Riverton Towers psyke raid was able to throw a large barbell weight like a discus, crushing the head of a Guardian.

Electric (Electrokinetic)

Electrics possess electrokinesis - they can generate and manipulate electricity.

They can use this electric energy in a variety of ways, and when using their power, their eyes tend to spark a light blue. When powering up for a high level ability like a remote surge, the lightning blue energy can also be seen running through their veins.

Exoderma

Exodermas have enhanced durability and extremely tough skin that can withstand considerable physical damage.

Exoderma have hardened skin that acts as a natural armour, granting them unusual resilience. Unlike most other powers, this one appears involuntary - it is not something they can turn on or off, but an intrinsic ability.

Healer

Healers have the ability to heal other living humans of bodily damage and diseases - including broken bones, open wounds, and even cancer - through physical contact.

The process involves the Healer taking a portion of the injury or illness onto or inside their own body. It’s not an exact 1 to 1 transfer, and Healers themselves have a natural regenerative healing factor, healing much more quickly than the average person. For example, when Nia treats Connor, the cut on his arm is completely healed, leaving no trace of injury. When she later reveals the same cut on her own body, hers has healed significantly. But it’s still a painful experience, one that could kill a Healer if they take on something too deadly or severe.

  • Notable Healers: Nia

Memory Wiper

Memory Wipers have the psychic power to interact with and erase memories with a person through touch.

Wipers can view and experience or erase memories alongside a person, from single events to entire people. However, memories have roots, and if any linger, others can grow back in time. So when trying to erase a specific person or place from someone’s memory, the Wiper must erase all associated memories as well.

Pyro (Pyrokinetic)

Pyros possess pyrokinesis - they have the ability to generate and manipulate heat and fire.

They can create flames from their hands and fingertips, and can heat their skin to burning temperatures, which makes it glow red hot like molten lava. They appear to be mostly fire-resistant, as melting things with a touch doesn't harm them.

Reader

Readers possess a type of telepathy, specifically mind reading. As their name suggests, Readers can only read minds, not control them or communicate between them.

They need to make eye contact to read their targets. When done to Connor this appears to make him uncomfortable, though it’s unclear whether that’s due to the intense eye contact or if the person being read can feel the Reader in their mind. When using their abilities, a Reader’s pupil’s dilate and their eyes light up with a sort of opalescent glow, which is reflected in the eyes of their target.

Shifter

Shifters can alter their physical form and appearance at will.

They can change the entire structure of their face, skin, hair, eyes and entire body. Shapeshifting allows them to alter specific parts of their appearance at a time or mimic the likeness of a particular person. As such, Shifters like Copperhead make excellent spies and assassins, able to infiltrate locations, gain intel, impersonate enemies or innocents, assume new identities and disappear without a trace.

TK (Telekinetic)

TKs, or telekinetics, have the ability to move and apply physical force to objects with only their mind.

They can levitate and manipulate nearby objects, including a human body, as seen when Garrett Kelton uses his power to pull Freddie out of harm’s way. They can exert enough force to hold a person to the ground even as they struggle to resist the invisible pressure. TKs can control several items at once with enough control - Garrett is able to keep several lightbulbs carefully afloat with no real effort.

Transducer

Transducers possess technokinesis and technopathy - they have the ability to manipulate and communicate with technology. It is a rare “one in a million” power.

Transducers can exert control over technology like computers, robots, digital hardware, and other devices. They appear to manifest as a rare offshoot of Electrics, as they’re easily mistaken as such. When using their powers, their eyes flicker and glow like a television screen.

  • Notable Transducers: Pav

Trivia

  • Powers are classified as weapons, and so people with powers are almost always considered to be “armed and dangerous”
  • A powered person’s emotional state can greatly effect control of their powers

Code 8
